Simulation Exercises

Simulation exercises are designed to simulate important aspects of job performance. The exercises offer the opportunity to observe candidates’ behavior in realistic situations, in order to assess job-relevant competencies. They also provide candidates with an insight into the types of tasks and decisions involved in the job itself.

Simulation exercises are designed to imitate a particular task or skill needed for the role.  They can be used:

  • Where a group of individuals need to be assessed and compared
  • In development programs to clearly identify how someone performs within a particular role
  • To review a whole range of competency areas to assess strengths and development needs
  • To conduct assessments for selection, promotion, performance management or development – perhaps as part of an assessment centre 
  • To assess specific competencies, such as communication, persuasion, teamworking, innovation, analysis, strategy and leadership styles.
