Work Skills Series Transport (WSST)

Overview:

The Work Skills Series Transport is a series of four basic tests designed specifically to measure skills relevant to the transport industry. Most suitable for those with few or no educational qualifications.

Semi-skilled Production Operatives and Transport Staff.

VWT1 Using Information

Assesses the ability to understand and deal with simple information relevant to answering public enquiries about transport services.  Information is provided in the form of timetables and route maps.  Individuals are asked to use this information in order to respond to simple passenger enquiries.

Time: 14 minutes

NWT2 Number Skills

Measures the ability to make quick and accurate calculations without the use of a calculator, using the basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  This skill is essential in many areas of administration in the transport industry, particularly ticket sales and public service information.

Time: 7 minutes

VWT3 Working with Words

Measures the ability to understand written information.  This test is relevant for many jobs in the transport industry but more widely where information and instructions are passed on in a written format.

Time: 8 minutes

CWT4 Checking Information

Has been designed to measure speed and accuracy in checking written information.  This is relevant to many jobs in the transport industry, particularly ticket sales/checking and public service information.

Time: 8 minutes
