Simulation exercises are designed to simulate important aspects of job performance. The exercises offer the opportunity to observe candidates’ behaviour in realistic situations, in order to assess job-relevant competencies. They also provide candidates with an insight into the types of tasks and decisions involved in the job itself.
Simulation exercises are designed to imitate a particular task or skill needed for the role. They can be used:
-
where a group of individuals need to be assessed and compared;
-
in development programs to clearly identify how someone performs within a particular role;
-
to review a whole range of competency areas to assess strengths and development needs;
-
to conduct assessments for selection, promotion, performance management or development – perhaps as part of an assessment centre; and
-
to assess specific competencies, such as communication, persuasion, teamworking, innovation, analysis, strategy and leadership styles.
SHL offers exercises across all these areas and across a full range of candidate level and job type. These tools are available at four levels: Strategic, Tactical, Operational and Customer Service and Sales.
