Overview:
Brainstorm is an interactive test that provides a structured measure of occupational creativity.
It achieves this through a series of challenging business situations (each 4 minutes in length). In each case, depending on the wording, the candidate is required to either give as many explanations as they can as to why a problem has occurred or suggest as many solutions as possible.
Brainstorm simultaneously assesses candidates on 3 measures:
- Number: how many answers to candidate gave which where relevant to the question
- Variety: what was the diversity of the answers given
- Originality: comparison of the candidate's answers to those of a representative group
Suitable for:
- A role where there is a requirement to think creatively or 'outside the box' e.g. Marketing, PR, Scientific research.
- In an Assessment Centre to provide finer discrimination between higher ability candidates e.g. candidates from a large pool have been pre-screened on group tests such as MGIB, and the requirement is to select the best of these candidates.
- In a Development Centre to identify areas of development to improve creative thinking.
- Can be used at all management levels from graduate upwards.
