SHL MSc Competition

Terms and Conditions

 

1. This competition runs from 31st October 2007 to 30th September 2008. If a project is completed after this date it may be entered into the 2009 competition.

2. To be considered for the SHL Research Masters project competition, a 500 word executive summary of the project needs to be submitted to SHL Head Office Research (Headoffice.Research@shlgroup.com) by 30th September 2008. A shortlist of entrants will then be invited to submit their full dissertations, on which the final decision about the competition winners will be made. 

3. The Prize(s) will be awarded to the winning Entrant(s) after SHL has received written confirmation that the Research Project(s) have been assessed and passed by the Entrants’ University by 30th November 2008. If not passed by this date, it may be entered into the 2009 competition. A Research Project that does not pass will automatically be disqualified for the Reward.

4. The entrant must be a postgraduate student who has completed at least three years of study in Psychology, equivalent to the requirements set out by the British Psychological Society for the Graduate Basis for Registration and a further six months on a course in work or organisational psychology at a level equivalent to UK Masters degree level.

5. The research project cannot be a PhD research project.

6. The research project must have made use of at least one SHL product and have advanced our understanding of that product.

7. The research project will be assessed by SHL and other third parties and must fulfil all of the following criteria:
a. Innovation
b. Scientific rigour
c. Quality of the methodology
d. Clarity and quality of writing and presentation
e. Contribution to the work of SHL’s Head Office Research programme
f. Whether the work is suitable for publication
g. Any other criteria which may be communicated to the participant by SHL from time to time.

8. There will be three cash prizes awarded to the three best projects, which satisfy the selection criteria as detailed in points 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 above. In the event no research project has, in the opinion of SHL, satisfied all these selection criteria, SHL reserves the right not to award any prizes.

9. The Rewards shall consist of:
a. 1st Prize - £2,000
b. 2nd Prize- £1,500
c. 3rd Prize- £1,000.

10. In addition the winner(s) of the cash prize(s) will also receive a full registration and accommodation package to the ‘British Psychological Society Division of Occupational Psychology Conference’ (or a contribution of equivalent cash value to another national  psychological association conference if the student is not from the UK.).

11. SHL reserves the right to substitute the Rewards for an alternative of equal or greater value.

12. SHL’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

13. By submitting their research project and other related data and information to SHL, participants are agreeing that SHL can use, copy and modify such research project, data and/or information for its own research purposes subject to due acknowledgement of the author’s intellectual property rights.
