Q: Can you share a memorable project where you felt your contributions as an I/O psychologist had a particularly meaningful outcome?

A: I previously led a public safety [non-profit] assessment practice and contributed hiring assessments for police personnel. My contributions will hopefully help improve quality of hire in this area for years to come.

Q: How do you navigate ethical dilemmas that may arise in your work as an I/O psychologist?

A: Most ethical dilemmas I’ve encountered have also been legal dilemmas, so developing and maintaining a strong relationship and understanding with org legal teams has been useful. They’ve helped to enforce my stance on various dilemmas.

Q: Are there specific skills or qualities you believe are essential for success in this field?

A: Apart from the obvious technical skills and attention to detail, I think change management and emotional intelligence are very important for success in this field. These skills can help with influencing stakeholders and making long-lasting, impactful change.
